History of Rexdale Eye Care

1895 phoropter

Dr. Lee Gold started our eye care practice in the early 60's. Dr. Gold was interested in the new area on contact lenses. He was a consultant with Imperial Optical in their contact lens department. He  was  also a clinical supervisor at School of Optometry.  When Dr. Gold opened his office in Rexdale it was a new community.

Rexdale Plaza  at  2267 Islington Ave. was a new strip plaza and he obtained space on the upper level.

Dr Jerome Shankman was a partner of Dr. Gold in the early years.

Dr. Robert Haber joined the practice in 1974 and in 1978 when the mall was enclosed they moved the office to a new space  in the lower level next to  Dr. Harold and Evelyn Ashley and soon joined by Dr. John Leong on the other side.

Unfortunately both Dr Gold and Dr Haber passed away and the current associate Dr. Sondra Black took over the practice in 1983.

Dr Black was joined by  Dr. Howard Snow in 1984 followed by Dr. Lorne Berman in 1985.

The practice continued to grow and Drs.  Snow and Berman moved the optometry office  to  a new plaza at 123 Rexdale Blvd. next to Shoppers Drug Mart.

Dr. Snow and Dr. Berman  are proud to continue as partners serving not only the  Rexdale  community but providing vision care to long time patients in Weston, Woodbridge, Mississauga, Brampton, Maple, Bolton and all areas of Etobicoke and Toronto.
